This extremely spacious one bedroom apartment was decorated with personality and retro treasures by studio Atelier HR, located in central Madrid, Spain. Materials and designs make nods to the past, although everything emanates with an absolutely contemporary air. An upward trend can be seen in recovered pieces of retro style and adapt to the needs of the XXI century.
The result is a very grounded home with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which includes high ceilings, with painted white trim, and an impressive library, designed as an inner courtyard and vital center of the house. The uniqueness of this area lies in its furniture, most exceptional pieces acquired in the famous Flea Market in Paris.
Looking to the walls and ceiling, including doors, windows and shutters you can see the play of lines and volumes of the moldings, thin strips of wood on the fronts and ornate pieces at the intersection between the walls and the roof.
The flooring throughout the house was coated with a Nordic solid wood flooring in a very natural, safe tone. In the library and in one of the bathrooms, the designers selected tile, giving a new look to this floor: fresh, natural and stylish. Here, the past is trendy.
In this house there is an atmosphere that stands out above the others, with charm that captures plenty of attention. The library receives plenty of natural light, and open to the rest of the house through a dark metal enclosure and glass, replacing partitions. Also conceived as a study and reading and relaxation, highlights the industrial style furniture, a gateway that provides access to the grid library, and with iron rivets.
Only the kitchen has broken away from tradition, boasting a refined style of straight lines. As a counterpoint to the total white furniture, the ceiling is painted in black. Two elements emerging with force: Caged lamp ceiling and a mural picture in black and white, which opens this space to breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower.
